Backup Volume Add-on

Your backup plans already include a generous volume allowance per device. But some servers and workstations hold far more data than the plan's allowance, and protection has to keep up with that growth.

The Volume Add-on extends backup coverage, by the gigabyte, for the data that goes beyond the included allowance. You protect everything that grew, without switching plans and without paying for capacity you do not use.

The complement to your backups

When a device holds more data than the plan covers

Every Zamak backup plan already comes with a per-device volume allowance: servers up to 1 TB, workstations up to 200 GB, and Microsoft 365 per user. In most cases, that covers everything. But a file server that grew over the years, or a workstation full of heavy projects, can hold more data than your plan's allowance. The Volume Add-on covers exactly that excess, by the gigabyte, without you having to switch plans, and Zamak tracks the volume of each device so you are never surprised on the invoice.

Servers: up to 1 TB included in the plan's allowance.

Workstations: up to 200 GB included in the allowance.

Microsoft 365: per user, with its own volume allowance.

Do you know which of your servers and workstations have already passed the plan's allowance, and are holding data beyond proportional coverage?

What it is

The Volume Add-on, in one sentence

It is the extension of backup coverage, charged by the gigabyte, for the volume of data a server or a workstation protects above the allowance included in the plan. It is not a new plan nor a separate product: it is how you extend, in a proportional and transparent way, the coverage you already have, exactly to the measure of what each device actually holds. It covers the data volume of servers and workstations, not the cloud storage space nor the history retention, which stay included in your plan.

Covers only what exceeds

It measures the source-data volume that passes the plan's allowance. You pay for the difference, not for the device's total.

By the gigabyte, without switching plans

Coverage grows to the exact measure of the data, without forcing you to jump to a plan larger than you need.

Pooled across the company

The allowance is pooled across your devices, so a smaller machine offsets a larger one, and you pay for the volume of the whole.

When you need it

The cases where data passes the allowance

Volume does not vanish, it grows. Here are the situations where a device tends to hold more data than the plan's allowance covers:

The file server that grew

Years of contracts, projects and documents pile up. A server that started small easily passes 1 TB without anyone noticing.

The workstation full of heavy files

Engineering, design, video and heavy technical files fill a workstation fast. Passing the 200 GB allowance is the norm in those roles, not the exception.

The database that keeps growing

A management system or a database gains records every day, and the protected volume rises with it, quietly.

The company that grew all at once

A merger, a new team or digitizing an archive makes the data volume jump in a way the initial allowance never planned for.

How billing works

Transparent, proportional and no surprises

The Volume Add-on is measured automatically over the volume of selected data at the source, that is, the real size of what each device protects. Whatever passes the plan's allowance is extended by the gigabyte and shows up clearly on the proposal and the invoice. Because the allowance is pooled across your devices, you only pay for the volume your company, as a whole, holds beyond what is included.

What stays included, at no extra cost

  • The cloud storage of your backups, across a network of certified datacenters.
  • Up to 7 years of history retention, with search and export.
  • The encryption and immutability of the copies, that is, copies no one can alter or delete, not an attack nor a compromised administrator.
  • Monitoring, recovery testing and Zamak's support during business hours.

The Volume Add-on measures the size of the protected data at the source. It is not a storage fee nor a retention fee: the stored space and the long-term history stay included.

Why Zamak

No one should learn they outgrew the allowance on the worst day

Zamak keeps track of the data volume of each server and workstation it protects, and adjusts the coverage as your environment grows, in a proportional way agreed with you. It is the backline that makes the backup keep pace with the business, adding to the work of whoever already runs your environment, never taking their place. That way, no device ends up half-protected just because it grew beyond the plan.

Frequently asked questions

The Volume Add-on, with no fine print

Because they are different things. The cloud storage space and the history retention are already included in your plan, with no per-GB charge. The Volume Add-on measures something else: the size of the data each device protects at the source. Each plan includes an allowance (servers, up to 1 TB; workstations, up to 200 GB), and the add-on covers only the source volume that passes that allowance, to the exact measure.
The volume is measured automatically over the selected data of each device and pooled across your company, so a smaller machine offsets a larger one. Whatever exceeds the allowance appears transparently on the proposal and the invoice, and Zamak sizes it with you before any contract.
No. It is a complement. You keep the device's backup plan, with everything it includes, and the add-on only extends the volume coverage when the data grows beyond the allowance. On its own, it protects nothing: it exists to keep pace with a backup you already have.
No. Retention and version history stay included, at no extra cost. The add-on measures the current size of the protected data at the source, not the amount of old copies kept over time.
Yes. Coverage follows the real volume: if a device grows, it extends; if it shrinks, it is recalculated. You are never stuck with a fixed capacity you do not use, nor left uncovered when the data increases.
