Pesquisa Avast revela preocupação dos brasileiros com a confiabilidade das urnas eletrônicas

The TSE is responsible for the development projects of the electronic voting machines (hardware) and the programs that are part of the electronic voting system installed in them (software). All the technology used in the electronic voting machine has a protection network with multiple layers of security, also designed by the TSE, that make any attempt at invasion, fraud, or circumvention of the electoral systems unfeasible. The electronic voting machine has become a model in some parts of the world. Its main positive point is the quick vote count. The Superior Electoral Court has made public security tests of the electronic voting and vote counting system mandatory. Each year, the voting machines are subjected to public tests by hackers and guests who try to breach the voting machine system and look for loopholes, which are immediately fixed. It is worth noting that the voting machine is NOT connected to the internet – the data is transmitted through a secure network of the Superior Electoral Court. Controversies behind the electronic voting machines flare up and go viral every election. For the election held on the 7th, the digital security company Avast observed that 91.84% of Brazilians fear that the electronic system could be violated. In addition to the concern involving the electronic voting machine, some other points regarding digital security during the period were pointed out. 96.15% of respondents expressed concern that politicians and their parties could be targets of cybercriminals, and 94.39% believe that possible data leaks from candidates/political parties could impact public opinion and even the electoral result.
